Emirates Overwhelming Favourite in UAE Airline Survey

A 2013 survey of nearly 22,000 people has tagged Dubai’s Emirates as the UAE’s preferred airline by a wide margin, with over 68% of respondents citing Dubai’s flag carrier as their favourite.  Etihad came second with 15% of the vote, and Air India a distant 3rd with 3.5% of the vote.  63.5% of respondents described themselves as “frequent travellers”.

The survey, conducted by Dubai-based myUAEguide Inc, aggregated 21,949 questionnaires, conducted primarily at trade shows and business events throughout the UAE.

“Exhibitions and trade events are ideal sources for the data we’re trying to collect”, explained Isabela Petrescu, Media Partnership Manager for myUAEguide.  “They attract an affluent, business-oriented market that’s a key demographic target for our clients”.

MyUAEguide was a media partner in 56 UAE exhibitions in 2013, including the Dubai Boat Show, Dubai International Motor Show, GITEX, Cityscape Abu Dhabi, and Big Boys Toys.  Survey respondents included 75 different nationalities, reflecting the cosmopolitan nature of the UAE, with the top six being Indian, Filipino, Pakistani, Egyptian and Emirati.  72% of respondents were in the 20 to 40 year age bracket, with 28% over 40.

“Achieving brand loyalty in that younger, upwardly mobile demographic bracket is a key goal for many businesses”, continued Petrescu.  “Once the initial impression is achieved you have the potential for a profitable business relationship that can last for decades.”
