We will be able to consume the water on the Moon

The water that exists on the Moon is in solid state, but can be transformed into a liquid state and then consumed.

Scientists have offered an explanation on this matter and the discovery could be used in future to supply possible human colonies. According to NASA specialists, distilleries can build using sunlight, becoming possible water source for potential settlers.

The water here is in soil layers or craters that are situated on the dark side of the satellite. Water molecules on the lunar surface are heated and evaporated due to sunlight, and the resulting vapor condenses and forms a useful resource of water.

Thus, a team of scientists led by Tim Livengood proposed gathering solid water and then turning it into liquid in distilleries using sunlight. Filtered water can then be consumed by astronauts.
