The coconut oil is commonly used as a cosmetic product, but it also presents numerous benefits for the body.

Although it is composed of more than 90% saturated fat, it seems that these fats are beneficial for the human body. The Lauric acid found in the coconut oil has many benefits, and its main properties are antimicrobial, antibacterial and antifungal. The human body turns lauric acid into monolaurin which helps fight viruses and bacteria that cause diseases.

Some studies mentioned its advantages in digestion and appropriate metabolism, hypertension, diabetes and bone strength. These are attributed to the lauric acid content, and the above mentioned properties: antimicrobial, antioxidant, antifungal, antibacterial.
